Evaluation task 4 – who would be our target audience?

The target audience for our film would be in between the 16-25 age range; this is mainly due to the violent and disturbed nature of the thriller that we have created. Due to the nature of the thriller it would be unsuitable for younger teens. This is mainly appealing to those of an older generation as the younger generation might not understand what we are trying to portray. Our thriller is similar to ‘The Business’ which is a vertigo film staring Danny Dyer, so it would be appealing to those customers that have already seen this film. 

The film is based around a group of undercover detectives, who think they are uncovering a drugs factory and find something that they did not expect. This group of undercover detectives is led by Jenna Smith who is an attractive young woman. This aspect will attract both male and female customers, this is because males will want to see an attractive young woman, and female customers will want to see a woman in charge of a group of men.

The secondary audience would be in between the 25 – 50 age range; this is because they will want to watch the film, however they might not have time to watch it due to their work schedule or family life. Ways in which the film will attract this branch of customers would be due to the action and storyline behind it, rather than the younger age group who would be more interested in the female character and the violence. However, within this age range, you might find more male customers rather than females due to the fact that they might enjoy the plot and disturbed nature of the thriller more than the female customers would.
